Weingut Bassermann-Jordan
Established in 1718 by Pierre Jordan, this historic estate is one of the most famous of Palatinate (Pfalz). Over the centuries, several generations of Bassermann-Jordan have worked on building a reputation of excellence. They are a founding member (1910) of the highly reputed Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP), which encompasses the 200 best producers in Germany.
Currently owned by the Niederberger family, the 49 hectares estate is organically farmed and contains more than 20 plots across Grands Cru (gros lagen) and Premier Cru (erste lagen) terroirs. The vineyards – Riesling based at 85% – are located in the municipalities of Forst, Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg, the « trois glorieuses » of the Mitthelhaardt wine region.
Whether classified as village wine (Ortswein), first growth (Erste Lagen) or grand cru (Grosse Lagen), the dry and sweet wines of Bassermann-Jordan express the richness of their terroir with complexity, tension and balance.
